(VNF) - Nhan Dan (“The People”) newspaper officially launched its online Russian language version at a ceremony in Hanoi today (February 3).

In recent times, the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Russia have been strengthened in many areas including economics, trade, security - defence, culture, tourism, education, energy, science - technology, cooperation between localities and people-to-people diplomacy. The Vietnamese community in Russia and the Russian community in Vietnam have been greatly contributing to the development of the two countries.

In his speech, Thuan Huu - Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) member and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan newspaper, stated that together with the availabilty in other languages, the Russian version of Nhan Dan marks a new milestone for the newspaper's development under the guidances of Politburo and Party Central Committee Secretariat. It serves as a precise, reliable and captivating information platform for Russian-speaking people worldwide. In details, the site will help broaden and deepen the understandings of international community on the visions and policies of the Vietnam's Communist Party, State and the Vietnamese people. Simultaneously, it will reinforce the friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and Russia, as well as members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (SNG), he noted.

The Editor-in-chief added that the Russian website aimed to present to international community the Vietnam’s policies, laws and achievements during the Doi moi (reform) period as well as promote the image of the Vietnamese country and people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member, Secretary of the CPVCC Vo Van Thuong congratulated Nhan Dan’s staff on the launch of the Russian language site and urged them to work harder to keep viewers updated with latest and precise information.

The Russian version of Nhan Dan Online consists of nine categories: politics, world, economics, society, culture, sports, travel, video clips and photo stories.

Nhan Dan’s Russian-language website is now available at http://ru.nhandan.org.vn./.
