Condolences following the assassination of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey G. Karlov

On December 20-21, Russian Embassy in Vietnam opened the Book of Condolences following the assassination on December 19, 2016 in Ankara of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkey Andrey G. Karlov.

Representatives of Vietnamese government, party and public institutions including Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, as well as heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Hanoi came to the Embassy to pay tribute to the prominent Russian diplomat.

President of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh via official channels expressed their condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Le Hai Binh strongly condemned the villainous act in Ankara. The Embassy has also received numerous words of sympathy from common Vietnamese people sent by e-mail and through social networks.
